about

Kianna Escobedo

Kianna Escobedo, from Bellmore, NY. Kianna fell in love with all styles of dance as a competition dancer since the age of 2, training under guidance from faculty at the Dream Center Dance Academy. As time progressed, she continued to push the boundaries of form, slowly curating her own style that she later would incorporate in her choreographing career. She was on Towson University's D1 collegiate dance team, where she learned the true impact that intense physical training and demand can have in sharpening your work ethic. From there on, she attended countless dance conventions and classes at Jump, the Dance Awards and Broadway
Dance Center. Kianna went on to attend Nassau Community College as a dance major. Here, she studied the body and Cunningham Technique training with Holly Farmer. During her time in school she became encapsulated by the idea of teaching children, which led to her role as a gymnastics coach at Nassau Gymnastics Center in 2016. She enjoyed submerging children in uplifting, constructive and dedicated training environment, and knew she had to finally combine her love for dance and her experience teaching. Kianna began working at Air Dance & Theatre in 2017, where she quickly rose to become the current lead choreographer and Dance Company Director Kianna's main focus at Air is to use all of the wonderful guidance and personal learning + training she has experienced, to form a studio environment where both her own and her students' creativity can thrive. As a judge she believes every student should deserve recognition for what they have worked for. She hopes to continue to build confidence, inspiring young minds and motivate dancers to pursue this art.
