Rebekah Joy Mitchell’s Bio
Rebekah grew up in Southern California and began dancing at the age of 3 studying tap, jazz, and lyrical at Debra Kaye Dance Studio and Freddie Finn Dance Studio, ballet at Riverside Ballet Arts, and master classes in Los Angeles and New York with Mia Michaels, Warren Carlyle, Jackie Sleight, Doug Caldwell, Suzi Taylor, Brian Thomas, David Allen, Charles Maple, Mike Minery, Randy Skinner, and Linda Haberman to name a few. Rebekah competed in multiple dance competitions growing up. She was Dancer of the Year Finalist in Jazz and Lyrical and her Top Notch tap quartet took the Highest Scoring Act in Las Vegas Nationals. Besides competing Rebekah also attended multiple Dance Conventions, did summer programs at Houston Ballet and Pennsylvania Ballet, where she was offered a full scholarship for the entire year. Realizing her passion for all styles of dance, she auditioned for The Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes.
Over the 15 years Rebekah danced with Radio City, she performed across the country and New York as an ensemble member for 1 year, Rockette for 9 years, and a Rockette Swing for 5 years. Rebekah had the privilege of performing in the original cast of the New York Spring Spectacular choreographed by Tony Award Winning Director/Choreographer Warren Carlyle and Mia Michaels. Other performances include America’s Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Tree Lighting at Rockefeller Center, Rachael Ray, The Today Show, and Live with Kelly.
In 2013 Rebekah was 1 of 13 Rockettes chosen (out of 150) to work year round in New York City.
Rebekah has over 23 years of teaching experience at multiple studios in Southern California, master classes throughout the United States and in Australia, and many Rockette Experiences and Rockette Summer Intensives. Besides teaching dance, Rebekah also has her Pilates certification. After retiring from the Rockettes in 2015 Rebekah now lives in Riverside, CA, with her husband Steven, daughter Storyanne, and son Marvel. Rebekah continues to share her love for dance at different studios and Master classes.
